In the 1930 census, the family was living in Sioux Fall, S.D., with Walter as head of household, his occupation listed as physician. Mary was listed as “Needlecraft. Ella is listed as a widow and there are three children, Wayne, age 11, Virginia, age 9 and Richard, age 6. Her occupation is also listed as “needlecraft” in an art shop. Mary died December 13, 1956 in Red Wing, MN. Listed on the death reference under mother’s maiden name was Johnson, not Jorgensen In a home movie shot by John Johnson, there are scenes that appear to show Walter and Mary, plus ones with who would appear as Ella, Wayne, Virginia and Richard, Given the age of the children it appears that the film was taken about 1935. |
